First Aid

First aid is an extremely important skill - it saves lives. However, according to the Mayor of London, most people are unaware of what to do in a medical emergency. Only 0.1% of the population is trained in first aid. Therefore, first aid is a key part of the cadet syllabus, and one of the most easily applicable to everyday life.

In this section we cover some some basic first aid skills, however the emphasis is on military first aid skills, which can add an extra dimension to training programmes, and are regularly tested in competitions for more senior cadets.

Military First Aid

Military first aid is taught within the cadet forces - this is generally only taught to more advanced cadets, and should only be used in a military scenario. This could be in a competition, or exercise, but in all other instances civilian first aid should be used. Military first aid takes into account the dangers of combat and a combat zone, and also utilises different equipment.

A key part of the cadet syllabus is practical first aid, and this section covers the basic first aid knowledge the syllabus teaches, as well as some of the basic tenets of first aid such as incident management and the emergency services.
